College Hill Childcare Cooperative, known as "Co-op" to our families, is the area's only parent-operated childcare center, one of only a few centers in North Carolina which utilize parental involvement to achieve superior care.

College Hill Childcare, Inc. is a non-profit corporation founded in 1981 by a group of parents who were dissatisfied with what they found in most child care centers: high child-to-teacher ratios, lower quality care and few options for parents who have flexible schedules and want to be involved in their children's early education.
Parents have the unique opportunity to participate in their children's classroom, get to know their child's friends and teachers, and directly contribute to their child's learning. Parents are not only welcome at Co-op, they build Co-op every day with and for their children. Together, our parents and outstanding teachers and staff make Co-op a very special place indeed.
Here is some of what Co-op has to offer:
Small Classes - No more than 5 children in the infants; 9 children in the one and two-year-olds' classes; 10 children in the three-year-olds' class; and 12 children in the four and five-year-olds' class.
Low Child to Adult ratios - 2.5 for infants; 3 for Ones'; 4.5 for Twos'; 5 for Threes'; and 6 for Fours' and Fives'.
Nurturing Environment - Our experienced, caring teachers provide the stability and stimulation that children need to grow and develop socially, emotionally and intellectually.
Fun Opportunities - The classes frequently participate in field trips, music classes, gymnastics and visit theater shows.
Parent Involvement - To provide our children with the environment they deserve, we require an active parent involvement at Co-op:
- work four hours each week as a staff assistant
- attend a monthly Co-op parents' meeting
- participate on one of Co-op's committees
